Great news for London. Apple are opening a new store in may.

It open today sweet.?

No way! We're seriously getting an apple store here in london? That's great news. Have you by any chance more details than just "may"? ie. where is it going to be, and what's the opening date?

Provided I'm in the country at the time, I'll be there

How do you know this? There doesn't appear to be any reference to this on Apple's web-site - either under the retail section, or on the UK site...

It's not an 'APPLE' Apple Store....

I think they've just refurb'd existing Apple Store premises on New Oxford St, it's opposite Point 101 Bar, just down from Argos... it used to have a big repro-section on the top deck.....

Damn, that would have been so cool to have a REAL Apple store in London....

We'll get one eventually.... especially in Soho considering the amount of design and post houses in a couple of square mile area.... ;)

So we're talking about that tiny corner of a building that you can fit about 6 people into?

Great.

Micro Anvica has a much better range of Mac products just 'round the corner in Tottenham Court road.

I believe you're talking about Square on New Oxford Street. I wasn't aware it was getting a refurb - it used to have a lovely display of the coloured iMacs going up the central column - what was wrong with that I wonder?? *sigh*
jx

Micro Anvika is just a little over priced though.... that's the only really problem....

What London needs is a f**k-off Apple Store.... smack in the centre of Oxford Street... now I know Oxford Street is probably the worst place in the world, but there is ALOT of shoppers... with ALOT of spending power... and it would certainly raise Apples profile some....

The only time you EVER need to go onto New Oxford Street is to get a bus back to Hackney at 1am after a blinder in the Groucho.... heh-heh :p

I hope Apple does open a store in London. But I think instead of Soho or Oxford Street, they would probably open it somewhere on the South Bank, perhaps near Tate Modern. It's a trendy area, and the design of one of their flagship stores would fit in perfectly.

Or maybe they'll open one in the Tower of London ;)

But now I'm talking out of my ass.

Or maybe they'll open one on London Bridge

Oh wait, that's somewhere in the middle of Texas now, isn't it ;)

ROTFLMFAO...:D

No, really, we meant to buy London Bridge, no way would we want that scabby old Tower Bridge;) ;) :p

(I've absolutely no idea whether that story is true, but it should be)

They ought to put the store IN Soho, right next to Ed's Diner, opposite the clip joint.

hmmmm..... as much as I like the Southbank.... Big up to the OXO Tower for having the 'Best views of London from a bar'.... The Southbank has one big disadvantage... a very CRAP transport infrastructure.... not good when you're trying to carry a PowerMac and 23" display without being mugged, beaten, stripped and quatered by the Southwark Massif.... *heh-heh*

Soho would be prime.... as would Noho.... I'd prefer either, to Oxford Street. But unfortunately when it comes to raising ones profile... it doesn't come much better than been faced with a f**k-Off glowing Apple logo as you come out of Oxford Circus tube.... Know what I mean!! ;) :D :D
