New apple watch question ...

I was gifted a new AW5 yesterday .... have only had time to pair it with my iPhone 11 pro max but gave it a test drive today ... only thing I notice is that when I get a text either SMS or iMessage there isn't always a new text tone from the phone now and I hardly feel the haptic notification from the watch.

Is there a setting for this?

Go to the watch app on your phone. Go to settings > Sounds and Haptics and under Haptics, make sure prominent is checked.

thanks ... I haven't had time to work through the settings but this caused a few problems at work today.

I made the adjustments but it seems the text alert is either the phone OR the watch .... not both. I might be wrong but if the phone is close, it does the alert. if the phone is a bit away, the watch does the alert.
