Well I recently changed my sig as I changed internet and mobile provider for the local Swiss company Salt.

Keeping my phone as I don't need a new one and got a nice deal which includes a good deal for home internet and TV with optical fibre.

They give you a modem/wifi router (very fast) and an Apple TV 4k. I hooked the modem to my iMac and the ATV with ethernet and use the wifi on my phone.

I set the ATV up with my Apple ID and my new company ID which I signed in to their TV app which includes live TV (300 channels) plus playback and recording and video on demand.

Setting this thing up made my old ATV 3 look like primitive plus I can actually play Apple Music including the radio stations directly instead of streaming from iTunes on my Mac.

The remote is cool but I kind of liked the old one that harked back to the iPod.

There are a couple of queries I having used it for a couple of days.

First I noticed that a few apps I downloaded for iOS appear with the cloud symbol, example Alto's Odyssey.

Does this mean they are available to download and play at no extra charge for ATV like it would be for iPad?

Am I correct to assume that some iOS apps are not compatible for ATV and vice versa?

As I mentioned, I am happy as an AM subscriber to play it directly from my Apple TV. However, I also have a music library in iTunes consisting of a large number of song from ripped CDs and iTunes purchases many organized in smartplaylists which I would just stream to my old Apple TV no problem.

I can do the same now but, I only hear the audio I can't see the "Now Playing" with the album art - again this is not Apple Music - which I could with the old ATV 3. Am I missing something or has Apple removed this function.

Anyway I am enjoying it and will surely have more comments in the future.

what is the record time for a Canadien to figure out that his new Apple TV 4K with 64GBHD was actually an official authorized hockey puck used in the Rendez-vous '87 match held at Le Coilsee, Quebec??

1. Yes

2. Yes

3. You will not see album art if you use Air Play to stream music from iTunes to the ATV. You will see album art and now playing if you use the ATV Music app to play your Library. Same way with Home Sharing and the Computers app on the ATV.

Anyway I am enjoying it and will surely have more comments in the future.

I don't use smart playlists much. I'm old school and just like to pick out an album and play it. Maybe I need to experiment with Smart playlists more.

Home Sharing simply plays your iTunes Library. As the smart playlists update in iTunes it should be reflected in the Computers App on the ATV via Home Sharing.
