New ATV remote to control volume/power TV and switch source?

Yes but not sure how it can change TV input. Probably will still need Tv remote to do that

I like that it has CEC. I want to be able to come home, pick up the remote and turn on my tv and it automatically switches to Apple TV input

I think the input source selection is an HDMI thing. If your TV supports it, TV will switch to it ala CEC protocols

If you have your all your HDMI-inputs (including the Apple TV) routed via a receiver, will it be able to switch HDMI input-source on the receiver as well?

I believe if everything supports ARC then yes. But Im by no means a guru in this... since I updated my xbox 360 to the one I have had some issues with my receiver that used to be automatic.
