I have the MacBook 6,1 (white unibody model) and I need a new battery for it. Is it best to get one from Apple for retail or are there any places to pick up a better performing battery for the same price?

I don't want a cheapie as those come with too many problems, not too sure of what else I can find other than thru the Apple store?

I wouldn't trust or recommend any non-Apple battery, due to the number of problems reported with "knockoff" batteries. Also, there is no assurance that knockoff batteries have the same charging technology that Apple uses, involving the battery, the MagSafe adapter and the Mac's logic board. The link below should answer most, if not all, of your battery/charging questions. If you haven't already done so, I highly recommend you take the time to read it.

Kind of what I thought. Thanks for the links, those are helpful.
