Yo guys, i have just bought new ipod touch second gen, i have a question about the new battery... do i have to format the battery like in old devices? I mean charge it to full and then use it till it dies and repeat few times?

I'd recommend you do if you want to get the best out of it!
 
Doing deep cycles doesn't affect the battery, and it can harm the battery if you go too low. What it does do is calibrate the state-of-charge meter, which measures remaining battery life. To calibrate it, you should discharge the battery until the iPod turns off (from full), then charge it until it's full. You only have to do this every few months or so.
