I think its been established (in the many recent lawsuits against Apple) that replacing an iPhone’s battery can make the phone run “faster” because the CPU is no longer throtelled for many models.

Is this a phenomena with MBPs?

Could some of the slowing down of my older (2014) MBP be because of its aging battery?

Should I replace it? Can I still get one inexpensively through Apple because of the lawsuits?

The iPhone issue is unrelated to the MBPro. I believe the iPhone battery replacement program has ended, but your MBPro can’t use an iPhone battery and there was not a discounted MBPro battery replacement program.
