I finally replaced my useless battery on my 15" MBP this past week. The old battery wasn't even holding a charge any more so rendering it useless as a portable. lol

Anyway, new battery arrived, I calibrated it as instructed and I'm definitely noticing that my fan is whirling around a lot more now with the new battery. Is that normal? I don't recall the old battery needing to cool off this much even when it was fresh. I'm afraid my MBP will go up in flames.

Here's what is looked like when I plugged my adapter back in after a couple of hours of battery power.

HD - 104
CPU - 119
Airport Card - 131
Base - 103
GPU Diode - 126
GPU Heatsink - 113
Heatsink A - 117
heatsink B - 106

SMC reset

but other than that from your istat temps (in F) seem normal. CPU at 48C is normal.

your battery will heat up if it's charging. also your GPU (or CPU?) downclocks when on battery power so your computer will run cooler.
