Hi all,

Finally got out my old macbook pro to find the battery that had never been charged now will not charge at all. I get the 'not charging' message and despite an SMC reset the message remains the same. Works fine on the mag adaptor.

I'm guessing this is what Apple describe as a deep discharge and the battery is unsalvageable but if anyone can recommend trying anything I would be grateful since this battery shows a cycle count of ONE (and it's never had a single charge from me)! If a new battery is necessary does anyone know how to get a genuine one as Genius bar will charge far too much? Its a MBP 17inch mid 2010 with the unibody battery.

Can't believe this as current Mac is still in repairers with blown logic board :-(
