Carlisle, Up Norf!
Anyone tried it? Can be found here.

Might not be of interest for many, but I know quite a few people use it (TBH, I find it the best News and Sport website on the planet, and really the only one I use) and I wanted to know what people think.

I... Don't really like it, very Web 2.0 which I'm not a fan of. I hope they leave the Sport website well alone.

Well its definitely not finished. Some of those boxes need at least a keyline round them or something. Everything just kind of merges together.

Personally I prefer SkySports for my sports stuff. :) Although the Beeb is good for science/tech and nature news etc.

yikes! so much orangey yellow!

nobody liked the current style when it was introduced either :p

I like the clock, it's like the one they had on BBC1 in the early eighties.

yeah, i kinda liked that too.

i like the way you can drag everything around, but there's something a bit 'big and chunky' about everything, that i don't think works.

Yeah, it's very editable. You can get it to display only the stories and content you want (For example, only football or football and cricket) in the sport section. I like that.

But as has been said, anything is... huge. Like it was designed for a 6 year old.

It's been there a while, and I think it's crap. What is with the over-sized everything!? :confused
maybe they're compensating for something ;)

WTF?? it's now all green..

I've set my post code for local settings but it still gives bloody London for the weather forcast.

Yes, I know it's only beta!

the existing site does that sometimes for me. not too useful, being in scotland

Whaaa, it's green now. Thats... Confusing.

Edit: I see, as those main stories change it changes the whole colour of the site. Not sure I like that.

I *would* like that if it behaved properly. I turned off football in the sport section, and selected cricket and motorsports, but all the headline stuff at the top of the section is still about footy. I realise that my hatred of football puts me in a minority, but I'm sure it's not that difficult to arrange for the correct content to show in there as well.

The BBC is of the opinion that the world revolves around London, so it's very important we know what the weather's like there at any given moment in time. ;)

I like the idea of the Beta page, but in practice it's all a bit big and clunky – not best suited for a laptop screen, I feel. And I don't like the fact that you can't get shut of the big BBC promo box.

After setting location to my location by postcose and the weather whatsit by town name, the weather works.

After changing the colour scheme it's not so bad. Not great, but not as bad:

It's all blue now for me.

Hmm. Two things:

- influenced by the Vista candy colour scheme, as well as MySpace and all that guff.

- clearly made with iWeb!
