Hi folks,

I don't work for these folks, but I love their product.

As mentioned before, I do plenty of SD video to mpeg2 (this product does HD as well btw). I hate the quality from compressor so I bought bv a few years ago. The quality is fantastic, great controls to fine tune your encode, easy to use and powerful batch feature.

Well, now....they've added a new spanky UI, plus, most importantly - speed! This app fully utilizes multi-core systems. Previous versions, 1.7 and 1.8, would use b/n roughty 65 and 80% of my mac pro 2.66 cores (in my tests and runs)

2.2 uses 100% of each one! TO THE MAX! I'm encoding in just over real time. 1 person said that with their 8core, they are getting 128 PAL frames/second.... 5x's real time. I'm encoding NTSC if that matters to anyone.

My point - same awesome encoding quality, but the speed...oh baby...the speed is unreal for me. I can now turnaround projects probably 70% faster than before b/c I don't have to wait overnight. I'm running batches of files overnight and doing more files in 1 night than I did in the past.

Do I sound excited? I am. Why? b/c my workflow just became that much more efficient.

It does cost a bit, but the value is well worth it for me. I'm not disappointed and all i need to do, if I felt bad, is to calculate my hourly rate vs time savings.

Oh, and one final point which I think is huge. Tech support - great tech support. It's a smaller company so the individuals working check the forums and respond personally and with great information. To me, this is one of the defining moments of a purchase for me. No sense buying something if you're lost or having a problem and can't find help.

Cheers,
