Not sure where to put this but thought I would report my findings on this, it may help someone that has a old cable modem. I have Cox cable and had a cable modem box that was several years old along with a Airport Extreme as the router. Well just been getting a lot of drops and losing internet and the Apple airport just kept going in and out due mainly to the cable modem it turns out. So this weekend I gave up and went out and bought a new cable modem a Linksys CM100 . Called cable company to give them serial number and Mac address than hooked it up. Immediately everything was flying much better and the Apple Airport Extremely stopped dropping it's signal. So if you are having a lot of drop outs and such and you have a old cable modem. It maybe time to replace it and look for a new box. It actually solved two issues with connections and speed.
