Hey everyone, I am in search of some advice. I have just started to take a digital film editing class, and I am in search of a digital camcorder for this class and once I am finished with the class.

The camera needs to fit a couple requirements, firstly being a mini dv camcorder, and having firewire output. I would like it to be able to shoot in widescreen, as well as HD if it is in my budget of around $500.

I have a macbook pro and will be upgrading to snow leopard soon, and we will be using Adobe Premier in class for the editing.

If any one can point me in the right direction as far as brands are specific cameras go, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you!

Look at the Canon HV20/30/40 series. These are HDV camcorders (using miniDV tapes). All have Firewire.
