I currently have a 24" 2009 iMac with a 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 8GB of 1067 DDR3 RAM. It has the basic hard drive.

If I bought one of the cheap new 27" iMacs, it would still be much faster than my current one, right?

Any downfalls?

I don't game or do anything very CPU intensive.

EDIT: I see the base model 27" is $1799. Is that the new cheap price?!?! Or are the new ones not up yet?

The new "cheap" iMac is only available in 21.5" display size.

Is the £899 one, that is the new cheap iMac.

I wouldn't have thought is much faster unless something run will make use of any instructions found on the newer cpu's is used.

Oh, I see.

I want a 27", so I guess it'll be another year before the new model is out?
