apple are promoting the new coldplay album and itunes heavily which is quite unusual as its not directly advertising the ipod as per usual..

The New coldplay album will be released on June 16th, a week after the June 9th date tipped to be the iphone announcement date.

People are surprised that colplay choose a Thursday to release the new album but what if the new iphone will have it pre loaded to have a joint worldwide launch?

Just a thought but it seems some sort of tie in could happen.

Good thinking! Especially as Coldplay gave away the first single from the album for free, so they aren't against trying new ways to get their music out there!
Could be a possibility!

well I love apple and I really like coldplay. Sounds an interesting idea.

I doubt it, the U2 iPod didn't come with any U2 pre-installed on it (did have a voucher for some money off though).

Also Coldplay :)rolleyes:), it would be quite expensive for apple to give out an album (that not many people want) to everyone and quite silly as well.

Why not some other bands/artists that are releasing albums the day after i.e. 10th.

  • The Bangkok
  • Solomon Burke
  • Jakob Dylan
  • Lil Wayne
  • Alanis Morissette
  • My Education
  • My Morning Jacket
  • N.E.R.D.
  • Plies
  • Quitzow
  • Railroad Earth
  • Setting Sun
  • Martha Wainwright

Or the others that are also releasing albums on the same day as coldplay
  • The Briggs
  • Busta Rhymes
  • Coldplay
  • Anthony David
  • Goo Goo Dolls
  • Ice Cube
  • MIGGS
  • Judas Priest
  • Missy Elliott
  • The Notwist
  • The Offspring
  • Ride The Boogie
  • Silver Jews
  • Tilly and the Wall
  • Sister Hazel
  • Wolf Parade

I think Coldplay have had their day as being the cool, intelligent band that everybody likes to fashionably say they like. It's an idea, but I hope it's a dead end one.

They reckon (the buzz around by the music press) that the new Coldplay album will be the fastest selling of all time.

Maybe there will be an option to buy iphone plus album installed for say $5 more and save over aconventioanl digital download.

I just think there will be something like this happening as the new coldplay album is tipped as being massive and the new iphone is the same. Will make sense of the strange coldplay plus itunes ads too.

why do people have to slag them off??? Just coz there now very popular doesnt mean there no good.
They have just announced a massive tour and I will defo go and see them.

Maybe because until just recently, Viva La Vida prelease was tops on itunes. There's massive anticipation for this album and it plays to a wider audience than most of other artists on your list. But at the same time, there are still many people who hate coldplay with a passion.

But still I agree with the poster above, its unlikely to happen. There would be no point, people wanting Coldplay would get the album anyway and people buying iPhones will get their iPhone. One coldplay album for 10 or 15 bucks won't really sway their decision.

Nope. Not a chance. Would be curious to hear thoughts as to who will be performing at WWDC this year though.

Would be cool, very unlikely though. Haven't liked Coldplay at all in the past (apart from Clocks) but their new single Violet Hill is awesome, so wouldn't mind a free album as unlikely as it may be!

No thanks. How much does it cost to have it removed? $500, fine - worth every cent.

I hate pre-loaded anything with regards to my music or videos. It "cheapens" the experience and it "forces" music into my earphones that I would never listen to anyway. Give me a $10 iTunes card instead. :(

Agreed. Though I wouldn't mind the music collection that the review units of the original iPod came preloaded with (read Stephen Levy's excellent book about the iPod, "The Perfect Thing").

If new iPhones come with the new Coldplay album preloaded (which they won't), you can have it. Otherwise I'll feel it to the dog.

If that was true I'd not buy an iPhone.

Snap.

Coldplay are worse than awful, beyond dull. It's not even that they're inoffensive, just that hearing their music makes me weep when I know how popular they are. Then again, so are the Republican party, tabloid newspapers and vanilla ice cream, so at least people are consistent!

coldplay being on the iphone would make me NOT buy one. haha not really, but it would suck if it was preloaded, that would be the first thing i deleted off of it

I like Coldplay, and would not complain if it was on there, but I can understand why people think this is a terrible idea. There are a million bands that Apple could pre-load on there and would make me absolutely loathe the idea of buying an iPhone, because that would make it seem like I was endorsing their music with my money.

Not going to happen.

Terrible idea? Far from it

Idea that would happen? No

I love Coldplay but even I chuckled when I saw this....I wish it were true but knew this would never happen

Normally I would have said GREAT IDEA, but with the multitude of people with different music tastes and who are too closed minded to even buy a phone that has music they think they don't like on it in this very forum made me change my opinion.
