Some of this will be available as soon as tonight, with more to come.

It’s about time. Whoever decided it was a good idea to release the AVP without more of this content either out there and ready or just around the corner in terms of being released made a mistake IMHO. To me it’s all icing on the cake and the content is fun to show friends and family when they come over and want a demo of what it can do and there definitely needs to be a heck of a lot more of that kind of content when the lower cost version of the device is made available if they want to drive more sales of the device so with both their immersive content and visionOS itself since they are taking the long haul approach here they’ve got time to fix this and get more content out there.

I think the announcements at WWDC in terms of third party manufacturers making and selling the equipment necessary to record immersive video will come to be just as important, probably more so, than what Apple ultimately puts out there. Getting other content creators to produce content in Apple immersive format is very important for this device’s future and it’s very much a chicken or the egg type of scenario. The more people who want to purchase that content, the more content creators will want to put out content in that format, so first and foremost its up to Apple to get as much out there as they can to drive initial sales and create the market before you’ll see a huge uptick in third party content creators making content for it.

IMO Apple should be making as many deals as possible with professional sports leagues and popular musical artists. If they can produce quality, lengthily immersive video of various sporting events and concerts there will be a lot of people willing to pay a lot of money to see those events from the comfort of wherever they happen to be as if they were right there in person observing the action.

I’m not a fan of MLS because there isn’t a franchise in the state that I live so I’ve got no rooting interest and am not a big fan of soccer anyway but if Apple offered a package where I could purchase an entire season of games from a team broadcast in immersive video either live or coming out within 240-48 hours of an event happening I’d pay several hundred dollars for the experience because immersive video feels that real.

Apple really needs to get live 3D sports broadcasts working -- even if it's just 3D-in-a-window, like the old "3D TVs" from 10ish (??) years back.

No sign of anything here in the UK yet.

I watched the first episode of Boundless about hot air balloons last night. Like the other immersive experiences, it was good but too short (6-7 minutes IIRC). I hope longer material (at least an hour or more) will come with concerts or sports.

I definitely agree we need longer videos. I’d actually just like to understand why they limit the time. Is there a technical limitation with the recording equipment? That seems unlikely but what do I know. Once they have the equipment set up, the crew in place and the balloons in the air, why not just keep rolling?

I kind of agree. It would have been neat to just be in a hot air balloon ride from start to finish or like 20 minutes or something. I imagine longer form content will happen at some point in the future.

The new game Thrasher is pretty cool. It’s a simple concept but gets progressively more challenging. Bit of a steep price tag for $20 but defintely a unique experience.

Perhaps file size?

According to the Upload VR website:

“Hot Air Balloons is only available in the US for now. Apple says it will be available in the other eight countries where Vision Pro is now sold in fall”.

Presumably that’s why I can’t access it in the UK? Bit of a bummer - second-class citizens again!

I'm very curious to see what The Weeknd puts out. Also, the short film in immersive video will be interesting. Wonder how it will be to focus on the characters and plot while wanting to look around the environment. Could be like The Sphere in Las Vegas, where the immersive environment complements the performance instead of distracting from it.

I enjoyed the Parkour episode of Adventure in immersive.. i agree i wish they were all longer… not sure why things are so short unless there’s just some massive amount of data required.. i don’t know the technical specs of immersive.. it looks unbelievable though!

At last the Boundless, Elephants and football immersive episodes are available here in the UK. Wouldn’t have hurt Apple to have released them here at the same time as the US, would it?
