Since I'm gonna be getting the 200MB plan on AT&T, I would like to know on average how much data a website takes to load?

testing some front pages:

google - ~200k
youtube - 700k
apple - 900k
yahoo - 1.1mb
nyt - 1.4mb
macrumors - 1.6mb

of course these are initial loads. your web browser will cache some images, etc. on second viewing

Correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't Opera Mini compress webpages on their end to send you a smaller page? 200k = 40k on Opera. At least that is how it works currently on my HTC Hero.

opera loads everything on their servers and sends you a compressed static image with link overlays. it's blazingly fast and downloads very little.

just don't use it for any bank or other secure stuff because it all happens on their computers, not your phone.
