new desktop: mac mini or second hand mac pro

I'm looking to buy a new desktop computer. I have about 1000 to spend so i'm looking at the i5 mac mini. But second hand I can buy a mac pro 3.1 with the dual queadcore processors, from early 2008. It has 6 gigs of ddr2 memory, a 2.8GHz quad-core xeon 8-core, a 320 gig hard drive and the ATI Radeon HD 2600. What should I get? I want to do some gaming and web design work on it. Mostly text editing though.
