iPhone 11 Pro New device - fully drain battery & fully charge?

I remember for the last decade, engineers specs always recommended draining the battery all the way on a new electronic device, fully charging it, draining it again and repeat for several cycles.

Is this still a thing in 2019 or has technology advanced?
