I have an application/feature request with regard to the iPhone’s notify system. If anyone knows of an app (jailbreak or otherwise) that does this, I’d be curious to know.

When you put the iPhone on vibrate, obviously it will vibrate when you get a call. This I still want it to do. However, I would like the option of putting the phone on vibrate and turning off alerts entirely for e-mail (and SMS messages). The way it is now if you are in a meeting (for example) and have the phone on vibrate and an e-mail comes in, you get a vibration. As I often get several e-mail’s during meetings, the vibrate jolts get to be annoying. I know you can go in to settings and turn off e-mail alerts entirely, but I want the audible alerts when not on vibrate and I would rather have the option of setting it so that when I activate the “no ring” hardware switch I get vibrate for calls and nothing for e-mail and SMS. Then, when I turn the switch back, I get the audible alerts for e-mails. This was something I could do back in my Palm Treo days but not with the iPhone.
