new external hard drive

My current desk top is a 24 inch 2.93 ghtz iMac. I am looking at 3 terabyte usb external hard drives and was wondering if they would work or do I need to stick to 2 terabytes.

Any size or brand of hard drive will work with your Mac, as long as you can connect it.
