iOS New Facebook News Feed Question

in the new facebook, when u click on a picture on the news feed, it gradually pops up and takes over the screen.

it doesnt need to load again like the pervious versions, once it loads on to your newsfeed thats it.


is this new? it seems pretty new, is there any official type of documentation. or did the FB developers make this from scratch?
