Has this been mentioned? It appears that you now have the ability to delete individual songs in the iPod (now called "Music") app. Left swipe on a song to show the delete button. Has this been here in previous iOS versions, or new to iOS 5? (I've never tried in any other iOS version).

Yes, it's been mentioned...

It's nice to have this feature plus it makes a lot of sense to have this option now that iCloud gives the option to redownload songs to your iOS device.

This will be great for making room on my iPod if needed. I didn't even realize iOS 5 could do this.

Very nice, this has indeed been one of the most annoying things to me since the iPhone launched. In fact, as far as I know, the only way to delete songs as of now is to reset the device.

I lucked up on it myself! Happened to accidentally swipe across a song and saw the "Delete" button pop up. Left me scratching my head for a minute. But it's more proof that Apple is serious about making the iDevices "PC Free", as you used to need to sync to iTunes to delete music. It's about time!

Makes total sense. We've had the ability to delete videos in the iPod app of the iPhone with a swipe. Never knew why they excluded the ability to do this with songs.

If you delete a song from the phone, does it un-check it in iTunes, so that the next time you sync it doesn't try to re-add the song? I wholesale added every song I own to my iPhone, rather than do it selectively. I come across songs all of the time that I want to remove, but never remember to get rid of them once I get home. I know they're songs that I won't ever actually want on my iPhone.
