Did see anyone post this previously, but in the Guided Tour of iPhone 3G you can turn on Wi-Fi while in Airplane mode without activating the Cell network.

This is new for airlines, they are testing Wi-Fi while in flight now, looks like Apple jumped on this right away with the business focus.

Also good if you are international and you only want to use phone while on Wi-Fi (for calls with new VOIP app and Data).

nice, that sounds like a great feature because i hated having to disable the airplane to get on wifi then start getting data i didnt want when over in mexico
