Hi everyone. I’m creating this thread to track the new features in the shortcuts app. In iOS 14 we have new automation triggers.

Time based shortcuts no longer require your confirmation!

Folders - We now have folders to organize shortcuts!

Copy Paste Actions - You can copy/paste shortcut actions now

Also, if you have a smart plug you can get “optimize charging
like feature” but using the new automation options. Optimized charging never worked for me (even with the location settings on) but now I can get a similar feature by turning off my outlet once the battery rises above 80%. Because I wake up at the same time each day I can have it turn the outlet on based on a particular time too.

Thanks for starting this thread. Shortcuts got exactly zero stage time yesterday so will need somewhere to collect the info!

The Wi-Fi option, does this allow us to turn off Wi-Fi if we leave known connections?

Londons TfL tracks is via Wi-Fi and I’d love to turn it off when I’m away from unknown networks

I see Shortcuts now has folders (sorry LaunchCuts, but you had to know this was coming). What other new features are there? I will be watching some WWDC sessions as soon as possible

How does an app get included in the Shortcuts app? From what I can tell there are a limited number of 3rd party apps listed in the shortcuts app. I have a jazz radio app that I listen to in bed and I’d love to create a shortcut that opens the app, starts playing a specific station then opens the clock app and sets a timer to stop playing the station after 1 hour (I’m usually 😴 by then).

The developer has to add support for Shortcuts actions, as Apple/Shortcuts don't know how to call all the various methods in every third party app.

I was looking forward to automations changing the Apple Watch face. However it seems for location-based it still is asking for approval. Time-based happens automatically. Not sure if that’s a bug or design.

I get notifications whenever one of my location based automations fire. I think this is design. Hopefully goes auto next year. I think they’re taking baby steps on notification-free automations.

The time based Watch face changes are great

How do you do that?

Quickly connect to my AirPods is nice. Until the official support for Automatic switching is here, I have a Shortcut to connect to my AirPods.

Another thing you can do there is connect that shortcut to the tap actions (tap back). I have mine set to run the Connect AirPods shortcut if I tap the back of my phone 3 times.
