I'm copying large files, many GB's, and see they get tagged with modified date as Jan-24-1984, why?

I had issues with one large Aperture library that was 290GB in size, froze up, and that data stuck with it......

Homage to the birthdate of the Mac??

Last one below shows it......

Yup, Mac birthday.

But what's odd is that Unix day one is in January 1972 (73?). And the OS X date-time APIs all reference that.
