Excellent!

I was planning on getting a formac monitor for my new PB (soon, soon!) but the 17 seemed not worth the $$ and the 20 is just too big and too much $! This 19 is perfect. A+

You might want to look at the reviews of Formac products. They've had a spotty track record - especially with support. The monitors look good and are priced right, but if they have problems and require weeks to get fixed, you'd need a backup monitor.....

Look at some of the reviews at cnet.com

1740 - http://reviews.cnet.com/Formac_Gallery_1740__DVI_/4852-3174_7-8749847.html?tag=box

This was enough to scare me off....

That's were Sony totally rules...

I had problems with my Sony TFT at the start of the year, was abit miffed because I thought it was out of warranty (it was 24 months old) and was cursing, until I stumbled upon the old warranty card saying it had a 3 year warranty with it *skipped and danced*!!

I called Sony and they sent out a replacement which I received the next day and collected my old display at the same time!!

And the girl at the end of the phone was a corker too!! :D

The 19" has no better resolution then the 17"

The image will appear sharper on the 17"

They are both at 1280*1024

The 20" goes to 1600*1200 and that is why so much more $.

Note that the Apple support score is the same as the Formac... they both suck equally (5/10).

So from reading these reviews you have about a 50/50 chance of get a defective product. If you do, you're screwed. If you don't, you get a great product at a great price.

I've never been one to take $700 chances.

formac's support sucked when i used it for my formac studio..

i emailed them and filled out a little service form... telling them about my dual 800 and such.

they respond with something like "your imac may not be providing enough power, this was a known issue with apple's rev. a imacs that has since been fixed."

what? imac?

duh

eventually they must have realized their stupidity and just replaced it. though i had to pay shipping.

I once had a Formac LCD and can only confirm that their support does indeed suck.

Well, this $700 wouldn't be worth it, that's for sure. They are nice looking and I'd get one myself, it just seems like too much of a hassle if you have to get it fixed and it seems that they need fixing too often.....

It sounded great at first, but you get what you pay for, and it sounds like Formac keeps prices low by skimping on support.

heh-heh-heh...

in a nutshell, I'm sure some people pay for a similar conversation I had with this girl!! heh-heh!!

She was totally cool!! It must have been the whole 'festive' spirit and all, because it was immeadiately after New Years... I was on the fone for about 3/4 of an hour... Great stuff!!

Sony girls are dirty girls!! heh-heh-heh!!
