So I'm about to buy ram for my new Dual-core 2.3, and I heard that Apple has changed the factory ECC RAM shipped with the brand new G5's from Samsung to Micron and/or someone else with a name that starts with "I", because of some issues with the Samsung ECC memory units.

Can anyone confirm or deny this from either first hand knowledge of your own RAM, or someone else's reliable opinion? I have not yet cracked my own plastic viewing case, only the main case door to install a second hard drive.

I'm about to purchase RAM and it would help my decision.

Any info would be helpful.

I have not heard anything to this effect.....

Samsung, Micron and the "I" people (Infineon) all have good reps for high quality and dependability in the memory business. And they have been OEM suppliers to Apple for years, as well as many other PC OEM's :)

If apple did switch from one to the other, it was probably a pricing or supply-chain issue......
