Hey Folks

Ive been playing around with Cinema 4D

came up with the desktop wallpaper
tell me what you think

shinyg5.jpg

The "G5" reflection is pixelated. The apple logo's curves look amateurish--why not just use option-k in Illustrator and import the curves? Up the quality of the render (if I remember C4D correctly) to get smoother edge curves on the sphere.

I love volumetric lights! But I concur with Agreenster, it looks a bit jagged.

I use C4D too, what technique did you use? Is that a sphere with an Alpha map of the logos? If so, why is it not rendering perfect (You can see the polys on the underside). I guess you used a different method.

I graduated from C4D to Maya about a year and a half ago.

Never looked back. So much better/faster/more stable. Trying to animate a character in C4D is so difficult. How the software handles morph targets, skeletons/kinematics, etc is awful. Not to mention the keyframe system/timeline thing and how generally slow everything is. The rendering in C4D is its only strong point.

If you can afford it (which you can, seeing how C4D and Maya Complete are about the same price)

Switch! ;)

im very new to C4D

i made that after 4 hours of playing and not reading any manual.

im new to 3d

the G5 and apple logos are splines from vector art from illustrator

i extruded the splines and did a boolean ino the sphere then i placed a volumetric omni light inside.

i should have subdivided the sphere it does appear jagged

any more suggestions?

Don't subdivide the sphere, it should render perfectly (provided you have the option turned on).

This one

Edit: If for some reason, that does not work right, or that option isn't shown because you have messed with the object at the polygon level, drop the sphere inside a hypernurb and that should smooth it out and make the image MUCH better.
