just been playing with photoshop
hope you like it
its 1600x1200 and i have a much larger version if requested

Very nice. :)

I don't know how to use PS at all. Yes, I know it's hard to believe. I just never got into it, that's all. :(

How did you create the flame effect? Did it take a special program to do it or something?

I beg anyone and everyone that does desktops, to remember that Apple makes a 23" LCD!! No one makes a 1920x1200 desktop!! Please, please, start at that size and scale down :(

Looks very nice, but lose the 'G5 squared' thing. It just doesn't make much sense. Good job on the PS stuff.

Yeah, the squared was playing mind games on me too. loose it. And nice flames, since you didn't use 3rd party plugins ;P

k well first

make a black background
take your text (in white)

rotate it 90 degrees
apply the wind filter 3-4 times.
rotate it back

blur it..

overlay a yellow hue
duplicate the layer then overlay a red hue

screen the red on the yellow

flatten this onto its own layer

liquify the red/yellow result
into a flame like look. and there ya go
i wont tell you everything. but tutorials are available online and in magazines

i realize im not being very detailed. but it is fairly easy and can give spectacular results.!

i think it works better for thinner fonts..

Liquify! I always forget about that filter since it's up at the top seperated from the others. Thanks for the explaination.
