Just picked up my first Power Mac G5! Bought it from a local computer recycling shop. I'm surprised how clean condition it was, just fairly dusty. There are next to no scratches or scuffs on the case, which seems pretty rare for most used G5s or Mac Pros that I've seen used.

Anyway, the specs:
PowerPC G5 (dual 2.0 GHz)
1.5 GB RAM (2x256 MB, 2x512 MB)
GeForce FX 5200 64 MB
500 GB Samsung HDD (the original drive was pulled from the machine)
DVD-RW SuperDrive
AirPort Extreme card

I'm pretty happy with the machine overall, but it could really use a RAM upgrade, and you might see me partake in the PowerPC challenge next month. ;)

Great score! The G5s are awesome machines. Even though I can see why people dispose of them so readily for something smaller, quieter and cheaper to run, I still love to put them to use. They are incredibly capable Macs.

I have 3 different G5s and tend to stagger their operation, but typically I have at least one running throughout the day as my audio hardware (mixer, mic, guitar inputs and studio monitors) run through an original Digidedign Mbox which is best suited to Tiger or Leopard.

Welcome to the G5. It's served me well from September 2016 to October 2017. Enjoy your stay, because they are hands down the best PowerPCs.

Ever since I got my Mac Pro '08, mine has gone into stasis. I still need to get a GT 120 to use my LED Cinema Display I've got in storage with this sucker so I can pair my current '05 aluminum display with the G5, thus repurposing it in its rightful place as a secondary computer.

They are truly awesome machines.
