new google calendar needs tapping twice

Since updating google calendar, I need to tap most things twice, on my iPad mini 3. E.g. when tapping the > for 'next week' (or 'next month') it first says 'next week' (or 'next month') but I have to tap it again to actually go there. Same for editing etc. Anyone has the same problem a/o a solution? Thanks!
