I need to buy a new 2tb external hard drive for my iMac. I have hundreds of TV shows and movies that I want to store on it which I'll play via my Apple TV2. Obviously it needs to be available most of the time but my current HD gets rather hot when constantly turned on. I am currently using a Western Digital 2 TB Caviar Green in a Macally enclosure. I am thinking of retiring this one to do occasional back-ups and replacing it with something more suitable.
Maybe something that sleeps when not being used but wakes up quicky when needed.
Any recommendations for my particular needs?
