New hard drive specs for iMac

Hey everyone,

My partner's iMac (Aug 2008, 20") has a failing hard drive. What specs do I need to make sure to look for in shopping for a new one? I'm trying to look for the specs of the old one in System Profile but it's all Greek to me. Once I get one I can format and install it just fine.

Any help? Thanks!

Any Serial ATA (SATA) 3.5 inch hard drives should fit your iMac. An example is http://goo.gl/7w6WGg

What Ice-Cube said...plus...don't forget to consider getting a hybrid drive. I'm thinking they're only available in the 2.5" form factor (Seagate will soon have a 3.5" hybrid) but with brackets you can put one in the iMac.
