Hello to everybody, Please be gentle. this is my first post.

Need a tip! My system is Unibody MBP 17" with 2.66Mhz 320Gb and 4Gb ram which I will be replacing this afternoon with Seagate momentus 500Gb SATA 3.0 with 7200 rpm. I think I can handle that part.

What I am unsure of is, upon replacement, how do I Install fresh copy of Snow Leopard 10.6. I have already backed it up. Should I reformat the hard drive first? and if so, I guess, I can go there through "Utilities", correct?

I just do not know the right sequence and this is the first time I will be opening my Mac.

thanks in advance.

Marc

I installed SL to wiped HD without problems. Tiger users have also been able to "upgrade" so it won't check for Leopard.

So, I don't really need to do any partitioning or formatting of the HD to HFS GUID Journaled, and all of those procesess and jsut pop in the Snow L?

Thanks
:)

Sorry to OP for the mild thread hijack but I'm in a similar situation. I'm getting ready to do some surgery on my Mac Mini (RAM and HD upgrade) and was wondering if I should upgrade to SL before I clone and swap drives or after? I'm guessing it probably doesn't matter but figured I check before I get started.

Thanks in advance.
