NEW Harddrive not recognized

So I installed a new 250gb internal HD in my 700 mHz eMac and its not showing up when I go to reinstall Tiger. It only shows up when I go under disc utilities, not as a destination to select to install the OS. What is going wrong?

You need to Erase the drive first, using Disk Utility, which will format it ready for installation of the OS.
