Hello everyone.

I installed a new hard drive in my girlfriends 2009 15" MBP. Installation is done correctly, the SATA cable is not broken (the original hard drive is still recognised), but the new HD does not show up in Disk Utility. I already tried zapping the PRAM/NVRAM and an SMC reset, but the problem persists. I can hear the drive spinning as when powering the MBP on.

The hard drive installed is a WD5000BPKT 500GB 7200rpm drive.
Anyone having an idea to solve the issue?

Regards,
Jonas

Justperry, I put the disk in an enclosure, formatted the disk as hfs and then installed it again in the MBP, unfortunately the problem persists...
