I just purchased a new 250 gig HD for use with Time Machine. I'm going to upgrade next weekend (first time I'll have time... ) Anyways, does anyone know if I can partition this new HD into 2 partitions, one for the iMac and one for the MB so that when I connect each to the HD, Time Machine will back up to the right partition on it's own?

Thanks in advance~

Time machine lets you choose any available disk partition for backup. Obviously, each partition will have a different name - so you shouldn't have any problems with it forgetting where to put things.

You may even find you can just use the disk with a single partition. From looking at a time machine backup, the machine name is used as the root directory for the backups. That would be more convenient if it works, especially if you later discover you got the partition sizes wrong.
