The cost of those cheap printers is the ink refills, take a look at...
how much the refills cost,
how much ink is in the refills,
how long the refills last,
Basically the cheap printers almost always cost you more if you print quite a few pages a month.
Edit - $30 for 400 black pages and $35 for 325 color pages - big cartridges. Or expensive cheapskate method $25 for 225 black pages and $20 for 160 color -- small cartridges. Plus tax.

Heck, even a cheap laser is expensive when you kill a ream of paper a month.
