New iCloud Photos from iPhone not showing up in Mac Photos

iCloud Photos are syncing fine across my 2 iPhones, 2 Apple TVs, MacBook Pro and iCloud.com but new photos have not been showing up on my 1st gen Retina iMac (Catalina) for a couple of weeks now. I've tried:

- Repairing Photos Library
- Launching Photos in Safe Mode (which led to 'Restoring' Photos Library)
- Turning iCloud Photos off and then back on in Photos preferences
- Pausing and unpausing in the sync status area at bottom of photos window

Any other tips?

Maybe the same as this poster's problem, and there's a claim it will be fixed in 10.15.2 in this thread:
