New icon on email

The 4.1 update for the 3G iPhone has a new icon at the bottom of the screen that appears as a box with an arrow pointing down.

I did a brief look at the threads and didn't see an answer. Does anyone know what its purpose is.

This to to archive documents with gmail accounts.

it seems to be something called archive. it doesnt delete the email but put it in a archive folder. r u by any chance using gmail?

You can deactivate the archive feature, if you want, by going to

Settings --> Mail, Contact, Calenders --> clicking on the account and checking to OFF Archive Messages.

Yes we use gmail.
