I know this is in the future but when Ilife 10/11 comes out would I lose all the work that I did on Ilife 08?

thanks to both of you...so once i install it everything would still be saved it would just open in the new program instead of the old one?

Yes, that's how updates work for most well-written software. In most cases, they don't affect your existing files at all, and newer versions can open files created by earlier versions.

but at the same time, older versions of the software will not necessarily be able to open files produced by later versions. i.e. iPhoto from iLife 08 can't open the library from iPhoto from iLife 09.
