Time for a new imac- my 24" 2008 just isn't cutting it anymore.

I have read all the 21.5 or 27" threads but can't seem to find this question:

Will a 21.5" - 2.9GHZ with fusion drive and upgraded 16gb RAM actually be faster (processing and boot up) than a entry level 27" with no upgrades (no fusion) for basically the same price- (21.5" would be $100 more. )

And what will the issues be of going with a 21.5" 5800 drive?

I don't do too much editing- just simple things but I do do many conversions from .mpg to .mov using MpgStreamClip. A 2 hour clip takes my old computer up to 16 hours.

So some speed would be well appreciated.
