I was wondering which one has more raw power under the hood when running universal apps:

iMac 24" SR 2.4Ghz or PowerMac G5 Dual 2.5Ghz?

Any first hand experience or benchmarks with similar configurations?

iMac has a better speedmark 4.5 overall. But what type of apps do you usually run?

279 vs 270

Although G5 review was done in 11/05. The score might not be the same now.

You can get Geekbench (my favorite benchmark ;)) results for the iMac Core 2 Duo @ 2.4GHz here, and Power Mac G5 @ 2.5GHz here. The Geekbench scores for both are:

iMac Core 2 Duo @ 2.4GHz: 3243
Power Mac G5 @ 2.5GHz: 2103

So in terms of raw processing power, it looks like the iMac is ahead (far ahead) of the Power Mac G5.
