new imac 27" displays red band

just purchased imac 27" and one day after using for first time noticed 4" wide solid red band of pixels running vertically from center of screen to about 4" to the left. comes and goes but u can see it under whatever is on screen.? this is 4" wide and solid from top to bottom of screen. anyone with similar problems.

I saw exact same thing on my iMac 27" that just arrived last Saturday (3/20). After spending an hour with Apple support they concluded that it is a hardware problem. They're shipping me a new one.
