Just curious if I am alone here, but I really just want the new 24" iMac as a tv at my desk. It feels more flexible, easier to watch different things than with a remote and good headphones with a movie would be awesome. Does anyone else use their iMac with this as its primary purpose?

Obviously, it will be used for other things, but this would probably be used for this situation most of the time.

The display is high quality enough and the speakers are better than any other display with built in speakers.

If all you watch is available on streaming services, it could work, though keep in mind you don't have any traditional TV interface to work with, so you'll have to control everything with mouse and keyboard. As long as you don't mind that inconvenience it could work out. If you watch actual coax TV or have a set top box, it obviously won't work as it has no way to accept those inputs.

It's easy enough to add a TV Tuner. https://www.silicondust.com

Installing Kodi will definitely help. Connect your media library and a Bluetooth remote and it will be like having a TV on the desk

Not primarily as a tv but I do watch videos and tv shows occasionally. Good image and good sound for the size. I can also send the sound to a HomePod mini on the desk for better sound.
