Did a quick search a noted one other thread but think I might have a different issue. I just purchased a iMac 21.5 i7 w/ SSD+2GB. It was 100% OEM at the time.
I needed to pull some data from a couple of drives so I purchased a Thermaltake - Dual Bay Docking Station and connect via USB. I got through about 12GB of data and then it locked up. I click one of the drive icons on the desktop and get a beachball. A few seconds later the screen goes black.
I try to power it up and get nothing. Then after about 2-3min of trying to power it then it finally boots slowly with some time on the light blue screen. Everything comes back up. I disconnect the drives, reconnect them, finish the data pull noting one more beachball. I finally give up and return the thing.
This is the only issue noted as it has been flawless otherwise. Is there any way to see if this was the external dock causing a problem or do I have some kind of other serious issue where it was merely a coincidence that it occured a the same time as the dock was connected?
My only other thought is that I have run it continuously for about 72 hours running various jobs. I do not think it was overheated as the temps all show in normal range and the fans never ramped up. The only thing that may be odd is that the drive dock and a desk lamp sat to the rear-left of the iMac...kind of wonder if it sensed too much heat? Is that possible?
