Hey folks. I just bought a new iMac today. Really super excited. Just getting everything updated, dl'ing my fav programs etc. But I just noticed that I am still running 10.5.8. The iMac did come with a Snow Leopard disc, and I want to install it, I just don't want to have 10.5 on it still.

I put the disc in and tried to download it but I didn't get an option to Erase and Install. It just started installing.

So how do I erase 10.5 and install 10.6?

Once you get to the installer, up in the file menu should be disk utility. You can then format the disk (make sure you have backups of what you need of course). Then installing will have to do a clean install. I don't know that the installer has an "option" for erase and install though.
