Hello from Italy, folks!

I was wondering who's gonna be the lucky first out there to get a new iMac already equipped with Leopard (maybe even before October 26th !).

So, please use this thread to announce everybody if/when/where you've got your new iMac (both BTO or standard) equipped with Leopard, with no need to submit for a cheap up-to-grade to Apple.

This may helps anybody that have already to place a new order (me, for example!) to have more chances to do that order on the Apple Store Online the best day to be sure to get the new Leopard-ize iMac !

Thanks!

:) Ste

I think that leopard wont be shipping with new Macs until the new year. As their "Buy leopard for $9.95" promotion runs on new macs bought from 1st Oct through 29th December.

No the promotion gives the lazy ass people time to fill out the paperwork and send it in.

It also says that Oct 26 is the date, and new machines tend to be first in line for OS updates. So they may start shipping customized machines with leopard before that date, and they warehouse stock will get Leopard tossed in the boxes as soon as they arrive.

Have you ever gotten a "toss in" upgrade? I've purchased Macs after the ship date for a new OS, but never have. They came with the old OS and were eligible for the "up-to-date" offer.

I haven't, but quite a few members alway seem to get the upgrade DVDs in the box like an extra Christmas gift from Apple.

I'm going to hazard a guess that these are Macs which were assembled with the old OS installed, but not yet boxed. I can't imagine Apple cutting open sealed boxes just to insert an upgrade disc. Come to think of it, I don't know why Apple doesn't give a supply of these discs to dealers so they can put them right into customer's hands at the time of purchase.

Just spoke to Apple Customer support, any mac ordered just after October 26will come with a drop-in upgrade kit, I'm guessing the DVD and associated literature.

Going forward after that, new macs will come preinstalled with Lepoard.

The Italian Apple Store Call Center has just told me that only the Macs ordered on or after October 26th are Leopard-ized. All the Macs ordered in october before Leopard release date are supposed to be Tiger-ized but - of course - eligible for the cheap up-to-date program. :(

Presumably, this is only for Macs ordered directly from Apple. Lots of dealer stock will ship with neither the drop-in kit or pre-installed Leopard for weeks after October 26.
