Hi guys

A Friend is telling me his new 27"imac is making a funny noise every now and then,

Can't work out what it is or where it's coming from,

He has SSD fitted so there is no HdD with moving parts inside. I guess th eonly thing inside thats moving is the Fan.
but it doesn't sound like fan to me.

i am waiting on confirmation if he still hears it after plugging speakers into imac and having them turned off.

any ideas, here is a sound byte, 4 and 5 seconds in you can hear it.

I'm getting worried because there are so many posts complaining about the noise.. I returned my MBPr and reordered new imac due to irritating noise when in full performance.

Mine is perfect whisper quite as is another friends.

but this one i haven't heard it in person only going off what is shown on that clip.
can't work out what it is ?

This isn't just a thread about how it's noising because it's not
its great. it is just about this strange noise that pops up every so often. and need help working out what it is.

There is good chance it's coming out of the speakers.

will confirm about the speakers tomorrow.

This is the third thread I've read on noise in iMac's today. Mine is so quiet. If I'm in the room with the door closed I have to strain to here it. I can not here it now as I type. Either there are a bunch of faulty units out there (but not HD as some are Fusion and some like this one SSD only) or some people have better hearing than me.
I really enjoy the fact that I can no longer hear my machine. I wish I could say the same for my Xbox!

Update
yeah definitely something to do with sound. WHen i turn speakers right up, it does it louder.

comes through internal speakers, and noise comes through my external speakers when plugged in.
